Section of Collapsed I-95 Reopens to Traffic in Philadelphia

June 24, 2023 – The section of Interstate 95 that collapsed at Cottman Avenue was reopened to traffic on Friday, June 23, less than two weeks after the collapse occurred. Three lanes of traffic now flow in each direction on I-95, following a round-the-clock effort by PennDOT and Governor Josh Shapiro’s office.

Motorists are advised to slow to 45 mph approaching the temporary lanes as the interstate merges from four to three lanes, and proceed with caution as the new lanes are slightly narrower, similar to a work zone.
