January 31, 2025 – During the later stages of BR3 construction, which is expected to begin in spring 2025, the existing noise barriers along I-95 northbound and along an existing ramp will be replaced and extended. The proposed barriers range in height from 10 feet to 16 feet.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the highway-facing side of the noise barriers will be a medium sandblast finish. The community-facing side of the barriers will be an exposed aggregate finish. (see below).
As is the case with the existing noise barriers, the new noise barriers are intended to reduce traffic noise after construction is finished, not during the construction itself.
