PennDOT Invites Public to Review and Comment on Interstate 95 Central and South Philadelphia Planning Study

Virtual Public Meeting Room Available Through October 6

September 12, 2023 – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 6 has updated an on-demand virtual public meeting room for the Interstate 95 Central and South Philadelphia (I-95 CSP) Planning Study. The room can be accessed online by visiting the I-95 CSP webpage.

PennDOT is working on a long-term, multi-phase project to rebuild and improve the I-95 corridor in southeastern Pennsylvania. The I-95 CSP Planning Study seeks to define project needs and limits for reconstruction of “Sector B”, a six-mile stretch of Interstate from Spring Garden Street in Central Philadelphia to the Girard Point Bridge in South Philadelphia. Key considerations include managing traffic congestion, improving highway operations, and supporting connections between I-95 and City streets and neighborhoods. The update includes concise summaries of design challenges, video summaries, differences and tradeoffs and an opportunity to provide feedback on design concepts.

Information about the study’s findings and initial survey results are available for review in the virtual meeting room. PennDOT encourages everyone to explore the materials and provide additional input on updated information presented. The public can submit comments at three interactive stations in the virtual meeting room and review survey results through the duration of the comment period, which closes October 6.

Those who are unable to access the virtual meeting room materials at home or the local public library, who have special needs that require individual attention or require translation services, should contact the study team:
