Richmond Street Closed Clearfield to Allegheny

Mar 08, 2019
March 6, 2019 - Northbound Richmond Street will be closed betweenClearfield Street and Allegheny Avenue Mondays through Fridays, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, through the remainder of March 2019 as crews work several blocks at-a-time to install a duct bank that will carry electrical lines for SEPTA's Route 15 Trolley.

During this construction, northbound vehicles will be directed on local detours around the work areas and parking will be restricted in the work zone. Delivery and emergency vehicles will be accommodated.

Richmond Street remains closed to southbound traffic between East Westmoreland Street and Ann Street through late 2019. Southbound Richmond Street traffic will continue to use the detour that is in place that directs motorists to East Westmoreland Street, west on Allegheny Avenue, south on Aramingo Avenue and east on Lehigh Avenue to access Richmond Street.

Northbound Richmond Street through traffic approaching the Ann-to-East Westmoreland work area is being detoured west on Lehigh Avenue, north on Aramingo Avenue, and east on Allegheny Avenue back to Richmond Street.

Northbound Richmond Street through traffic between Lehigh Avenue and Ann Street is being detoured along Allen Street, a temporary northbound-only street that runs adjacent to northbound I-95, to Allegheny Avenue.

The work is part of the $32.1 million project to rebuild and improve Richmond Street between Ann Street and East Westmoreland Street. The Richmond Street project is the first stage in the larger reconstruction of I-95 between Allegheny Avenue and Frankford Creek that is projected to begin in 2024.

Additional construction activities, with localized detours, also will take place moving south-to-north from Ann Street to E. Westmoreland Street beginning this spring for reconstruction of the roadway and sidewalks.
