January 5, 2022 – A long-term traffic shift is in place on Delaware Avenue between Allegheny Avenue and Castor Avenue in Port Richmond, as the contractor prepares to begin reconstruction of the southbound lane.
One lane of traffic in each direction will be moved onto the rebuilt northbound lane during construction, which will include the installation of a new stormwater drainage system, reconstruction of the roadway, and installation of new curbs and sidewalks.
Construction is anticipated to be completed in early spring.
Delaware Avenue reconstruction is part of PennDOT's $31.2 million I-95/Section AF2 project to reconstruct sections of Delaware Avenue, Allegheny Avenue, Castor Avenue, and Bath Street in Port Richmond. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2023.
